Juniper Hill Buddhist Retreat Centre is an ideal place for a solitary retreat. Secluded on a rolling hills property in Eastern Ontario, it provides the tranquility and privacy for a solitary retreat to deepen ones spiritual practice through meditation.

Madeline Conacher & Louis Allen bought the 30 acre property in 2003 and built the cabin in 2006. Eva Wong, a Feng Shui master, visited the land in 2005 and helped pick the retreat cabin site which she describes as “Gentle rolling hills in rural setting: associated with nourishing & benevolent energy…the site is conducive to cultivating vast mind.”

Juniper Hill is on the east most portion of the Oak Ridges Moraine. It is located 2 hrs east of Toronto, 3 ½ hrs south west of Ottawa and 4 hours west of Montreal. It is located 7 km north of Warkworth.

Retreatants must be participants in established spiritual communities and have specific guidelines on retreat from their spiritual teacher or meditation guide. People from any contemplative tradition who have a well established practice are welcome. 

Madeline & Louis are both senior practitioners & authorized meditation instructors in Shambhala International founded by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and now under the direction of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Madeline is also a student of Venerable Khandro Rinpoche.
